I don't think that you can mix and match bits and pieces between manufacturers.
As for the welding issue, personally I don't think that it will hurt anything, as was mentioned Reese has already welded on it in other areas.

Thank God for that! Michael Waltrip is not a has been, he's a never was. He's a good pitch man but aside from a few victories in a 2 year span he has never been close to spectacular!
And those wins came at one style of track with a team that had it happening at that style of track for those two years.............

Rusty - I like the barn picture. I never knew what canola plants looked like.
The canola field is the yellow plants in the background actually. I should have mentioned that.

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

On saturday night I went to what possibly could be the last race ever held at Calgary Race City Speedway, in fact a couple of weeks ago track managment closed down racing for the remainder of the year, but due to the work of Trevor Boys (who raced Winston Cup back in the early to mid 80's) he made a few calls and put together a pretty good show, with the IMCA Mods, and Late models, and the Dwarf cars on the race card.

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

People back east just don't understand what it is like out here in the west in the open road. You can do 85 and not feel anything about it as the speed limit is 75 mph. I cover Idaho in my work territory and drive up there quite a bit and I get passed by plenty of people when I am doing 85 mph!
I know exactly what you mean, but what I think she was meaning was the fact that he was driving along at 100 mphr while taking a picture.
Okay, I went back and read the post and now I understand where both of you are coming from.
My bad!
Sorry.

I hope the H2 owner that finally catches him has an aluminum base ball bat in his hands. And swings for the fence on that old mans cranium.
No way, I would much rather hear the crack of wood on this freaks head then aluminium............

Found this Southbound I-15 Salt Lake City, Utah
That looks like it is a brand new boat as it has the shrink wrap on that the manufacturers use for shipping.
Sucks to be the delivery dude.......

RE: Lippert Frame/Pin Box Issues

I inspect welds and aerospace components for a living. I am the lead QA person in my area and we do about 3.5 to 4.5 million dollars in hardware a month.
Let me state, as a fact, that most welds on my Lippert frame do NOT meet the national standards set forth in ISO and various QA publications. Are they substandard? Well, for thier intended use perhaps not but they are in no way produced by what I would consider a qualified or certified welder.
As well the material they use is sub-standard as far as I am concerned, meaning the thickness of the material, it was way to thin for the application. I have the pieces of the shackles that ripped right off the frame rails sitting in the garage and they are paper thin, it's amazing. The trailer weighs in at roughly 11,000 lbs fully loaded, and the metal they use for the shackle material is no thicker then a 1/8 th of an a inch, if they bumped it up to a good 1/2 inch that would make a whuge difference!
It also makes you wonder about those guys that flip their axles for increased ride height, just think about it. They have changed the whole C of G of the rig, which is also putting more strain on these poorly designed and manufactured suspensions that were initially designed what several decades ago! I had a neighbour flip his axles and I told him about our problems last year and he promptly welded on thicker metal pieces to reinforce the shackles.

RE: Lippert Frame/Pin Box Issues

Anybody who cares to crawl under their trailer and look at the welds that are visible, please do.And After doing this if you still feel that Lippert is a "whipping boy"Please come back and post your findings.Any welds that I have been able to see on my Lippert frame are substandard at best!If you have never had a problem God Bless You!But don't critisize those of us that have.
Agreed, wholeheartadly.
Having had our suspension collapse just outside of Rapid City SD, I can appreciate the "welding practices" of one Lippert Ind, it kills me to see people say they only build to what the manufacturers want and need! The same can be said about that whole Chinese quality argument as well.......
If it were me I would want to provide above and beyond what the trailer manufacturers wanted!

RE: Our first time winterizing 5er

The thing about blowing out the water lines with air is that you dry up the washers and o-rings in the system, I used to blow it out but now the taps in the kitchen and bathroom spray water all over the place due to the dried out washers/o-rings. The Plumbing anti-freeze also lubricates the rubber components in the water systems. Most importantly the toilet flush system needs lubricating, having gone through two flush valves and currently having to recently replace another valve, I have learned my lesson to use Plumbing anti-freeze!
I find living in Alberta the climate is very dry, so the plumbing anti-freeze helps out a lot more with the water system in our 5er's.
